About the Chambers
A Chennai practice built entirely around property law
Juris And Nova Chambers advises on property and real estate matters in Chennai and across Tamil Nadu. Our work runs from a thirty-year title search before a purchase, to a partition decree executed on the ground, to a writ before the Madras High Court against an arbitrary revenue order.
Property in Chennai carries a long memory. Old George Town holdings, ancestral land on the city's edge and fast-moving suburban layouts each fail in different ways. Because we work only in this field, we know where each of them tends to break — and we look there first.
Clients receive a written position, a fixed fee for documentation work and a stage-wise quote for litigation. Where a registered settlement will serve better than a decree, we say so.
Why Choose Us
Six reasons property owners in Chennai instruct us
Property Law Only
A single-domain practice. We do not divide attention across unrelated fields — every hour we bill is spent on property, land and real estate matters.
Madras High Court Practice
Regular appearances in writs, appeals, probate and original side property matters, alongside the city civil courts and TNRERA.
NRI-Ready Process
Digital documentation, video consultations, site verification and power of attorney handling built for clients who cannot travel.
Fixed, Written Fees
Documentation and verification work is quoted as a fixed fee. Litigation is quoted stage-wise. No open-ended billing.
Documentary Rigour
Thirty-year title tracing, independent record retrieval and written risk grading — not a signature on a template opinion.
Settlement First
Where a registered settlement beats a decree, we say so. Litigation is a tool, not a default.

How your matter moves forward
Every matter follows the same disciplined sequence, whether it is a single legal opinion or a decade-old partition dispute.
- 01
Consultation
We hear the facts, identify the legal question and tell you at the outset whether you have a matter worth pursuing.
- 02
Document Review
Title deeds, encumbrance certificates, revenue records and approvals are retrieved independently and read against each other.
- 03
Legal Opinion
You receive a written opinion setting out the position, the defects, the risk grading and the options available to you.
- 04
Action
Drafting and registration, a statutory notice, or filing with interim protection — whichever the situation actually requires.
- 05
Resolution
We pursue the matter to a registered document, a decree or a settlement, and follow through to execution and mutation.
Client Testimonials
What our clients say
“They found a break in the title chain that two earlier checks had missed. We walked away from that property and bought another one with their opinion in hand. Worth every rupee.”
“I live in Singapore and had almost given up on our family land near Chennai. The team handled the revocation, the injunction and the recovery, and kept me updated after every hearing.”
“Our project handover was stuck for two years. They organised twenty of us into a single coordinated action and we finally got possession along with compensation for the delay.”
“A partition our family had argued over for a decade was settled in six weeks with a registered deed. Clear advice, no drama, and everyone signed willingly.”
Yes. Juris And Nova Chambers is a dedicated property law practice. Every matter we take on relates to property, land or real estate in Chennai and Tamil Nadu, which is why our documentation and litigation work in this field is deeper than a general practice can offer.
Bring whatever you have — the sale deed or parent documents, the latest Encumbrance Certificate, patta and chitta extracts, property tax receipts, and any notice or court papers received. If documents are missing, we will tell you how to retrieve them.
Fees depend on the extent of the property, the number of survey numbers and how far back the title must be traced. We give you a fixed fee in writing after a first look at the documents, with no open-ended billing.
Yes. A large part of our practice is for NRI clients. We work through scanned records, video consultations and site walkthroughs, and conduct matters under a properly executed special power of attorney.
Interim relief such as an injunction is usually decided within weeks. A contested civil suit typically runs three to six years at the trial stage. Documentation and revenue matters are far quicker — often weeks rather than years.
No. Patta is a revenue record evidencing possession and entitlement; ownership flows from the registered title documents. Both should be in your name and should match in extent and survey number.
Yes. Builder reputation does not cure a defect in the underlying land title, an unapproved deviation from the sanctioned plan, or a subsisting mortgage on the project land. Independent verification protects you in all three situations.
Yes. We appear in writ petitions, appeals, original side suits and probate matters concerning property before the Madras High Court, in addition to the city civil courts, TNRERA and consumer commissions.
